La Vendemmia was celebrated at the Kelowna Canadian Italian Club on Sept. 15, 2024.

The Kelowna Canadian Italian Club had a grape-stomping good time at La Vendemmia.

Volunteer and a member on the board of directors Andrea Meyes helped coordinator the stompers.

"We're celebrating the harvest," Meyes explained that Vendemmia is the start of the wine grape harvest and one of the oldest Italian traditions.

The grape festival was held at the club on Lawrence Avenue Sept. 15.

Club members were invited to lunch before an entertaining grape stomping competition.

In groups of three, participants stepped into buckets full of grapes and attempted to stomp the most in a two minute period.

Of those who stomped, three people tied for the win with each stomping enough grapes for six litres of juice.
