Feb. 14 is Valentinesa国际传媒檚 Day, a traditional day for love and romance.

The concept of love and romance, of course, has different meanings for everyone. So in order to learn more, we went to the experts.

We asked a variety of residents at Berwick Parksville, some couples together for nearly 70 years, a few key questions and they offered some tips on how to maintain lasting love.

What does love mean to you?

sa国际传媒淟ove means someone who cares about you,sa国际传媒� said Lil Rossiter, married to Jack Rossiter for 54 years.

Love means sa国际传媒渂eing married to someone for 67 years,sa国际传媒� according to Jeanne Bunker.

sa国际传媒淪he couldnsa国际传媒檛 find a second person, so Isa国际传媒檓 still here,sa国际传媒� Ralph Bunker joked.

sa国际传媒淟ove means caring for each other, helping each other, looking after each other,sa国际传媒� said Tom Mountain, married to Diane Mountain for nearly 59 years.

sa国际传媒淪aying sa国际传媒業sa国际传媒檓 sorrysa国际传媒�,sa国际传媒� according to Joan Stewart. sa国际传媒淲esa国际传媒檝e been together for 62 years and courted for five years before that.sa国际传媒�

Gordon Hudson answered, sa国际传媒淚tsa国际传媒檚 the way in which wesa国际传媒檝e spent our life for the last 50 some odd years, so, you know, together for everything.sa国际传媒�

Linda Hudson agreed, sa国际传媒淧retty much joined at the hip.sa国际传媒�

How do you maintain love?

sa国际传媒淏y taking care of each other, understanding each other. What they like to do,sa国际传媒� said Lil Rossiter.

Jack Rossiter says the secret to a lasting marriage is to sa国际传媒渒eep it simple.sa国际传媒�

sa国际传媒淚 think having a sense of humour is important,sa国际传媒� said Tom Mountain. sa国际传媒淚 think itsa国际传媒檚 laughing, at times, at things and thatsa国际传媒檚 the important part.sa国际传媒�

sa国际传媒淚tsa国际传媒檚 also having concern for each other and their well-being,sa国际传媒� Diane Mountain added. sa国际传媒淎nd making sure that things go well for your partner.sa国际传媒�

sa国际传媒淟ook after each other,sa国际传媒� said Jeanne and Ralph, nearly in unison.

sa国际传媒淵ou have to give and take,sa国际传媒� Jeanne added.

Do you have a secret to a lasting marriage?

sa国际传媒淚 donsa国际传媒檛 know if we do or not, but I think we found it whatever it is because we have a long and happy marriage now,sa国际传媒� Diane said. sa国际传媒淎nd I think concern for each other, and paying attention to each other and listening to your partner and seeing what they need and what you can do to help them.sa国际传媒�

sa国际传媒淚 agree, yes, communication and a sense of things in common,sa国际传媒� Tom said. sa国际传媒淎nd common attitudes and common purpose and that kind of thing as well.sa国际传媒�

sa国际传媒淏y keeping your individual personality,sa国际传媒� according to Linda.

Joan said sa国际传媒淗e (Wayne) has an old grandma who lived into her 90s and she says, sa国际传媒榶ou never go to bed mad at each othersa国际传媒�.sa国际传媒�

sa国际传媒淚f yousa国际传媒檙e arguing, you make sure that yousa国际传媒檝e corrected before you go to bed and you always say goodnight either with a kiss or blowing a kiss,sa国际传媒� added Wayne. sa国际传媒淚sa国际传媒檝e inherited that and carried it on from my parents.sa国际传媒�

sa国际传媒淲e donsa国际传媒檛 have any divorces in our family. Wesa国际传媒檙e very lucky,sa国际传媒� said Joan.
