Westside-Kelowna MLA Ben Stewart fought off tears as he announced his decision to step aside in order to allow Premier Christy Clark to run for the riding in a byelection.

To the editor:

I enjoyed Alistair Waterssa国际传媒 analysis of the BC Liberal leadership debate last weekend in Kelowna sa国际传媒 but I do have to take issue with his assessment that our party is treating the upcoming Kelowna West byelection as sa国际传媒渁 slam dunk.sa国际传媒

Quite the opposite! My team and I are taking no vote for grantedsa国际传媒搘orking hard on the doors, the phones, and online to get our message to Kelowna West residents and earn their support.

Wesa国际传媒檙e putting in that hard work because so much is at stake. Kelowna West needs a strong, experienced MLA who can immediately start tackling our community prioritiessa国际传媒揳s part of a BC Liberal team that will stand up for a healthy, prosperous, and sustainable Okanagan. I hope to have the honour of continuing to serve the communities and region I love.

Our campaign is wide open to anyone who shares our vision and wants to get involved.

Thatsa国际传媒檚 all for now sa国际传媒 I have doors to knock on!

Ben Stewart,

BC Liberal Candidate, Kelowna West
