The wildfire that sparked near Oroville, Washington south of Osoyoos remains fully lined as of Monday, Aug. 5.

Smoke from the fire was visible from Anarchist Mountain, along Highway 3 and from Osoyoos.

The fire has shrunk to cover 120 acres (49 hectares) according to the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.

Evacuation orders that were issued on Aug. 3 after the fire erupted were retracted by 3:30 p.m. that day and replaced with alerts for properties in the area.

The fire had reached a size of 160 acres (about 65 hectares) on Aug. 3 before containment lines were set up along the fire.

The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen and BC Wildfire Service both were monitoring the fire.
