BC Wildfire Service is preparing for a planned ignition near the Calcite Creek wildfire about 40 kilometres south of Princeton.

The burn is expected to take place on Monday, July 29 if weather conditions allow.

The planned ignition will burn about 200 hectares on the north flank using 25 ground personnel and 3 helicopters.

The goal of the burn is to bring the fire to already established control lines.

Smoke is expected to be visible from Eastgate and Highway 3.

The Calcite Creek fire has been burning since July 18 and is an estimated 1,789 hectares. The blaze is lightning caused.
