The entire School District 67 is offline after a cybersecurity incident on Tuesday.
A press release on Wednesday, Feb. 14, stated the district-wide outage is related to the unspecified incident, with no timeline for when the district will be back online.
The schools in the district are still in operation, but school phones and emails are down.
According to the press release, the Ministry of Education and Child Care is assisting the district along with Safe Schools Together and local authorities.
No details were shared in the press release on whether the personal information of any student or staff were compromised due to the incident, or what type of cybersecurity incident it was.
In 2020, the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen was almost the victim of a cyberattack that attempted to put in place ransomware that would lock up their system unless the creator was paid.
