Kelowna officials warn against anti-COVID protests ahead of planned sa国际传媒榤ega rallysa国际传媒

Kelownasa国际传媒檚 mayor and top cop have made their message clear to those protesting public health orders

Kelownasa国际传媒檚 mayor and top cop have some choice words for those planning on participating in an anti-restriction sa国际传媒渕ega rallysa国际传媒 this weekend.

In two separate videos aimed at addressing potential protesters, Supt. Kara Triance and Mayor Colin Basran call the planned rally and march in opposition of public health orders this Saturday (Feb. 13) sa国际传媒渧ery concerningsa国际传媒.

Demonstrators have taken to Kelownasa国际传媒檚 Stuart Park every Saturday afternoon for several months. The organizer of the event, David Kevin Lindsay, has received several fines for the demonstrations, amounting to almost $7,000. This weekendsa国际传媒檚 rally is reported to bring participants to Kelowna from across the Okanagan Valley and beyond.

sa国际传媒淭his is unlawful, and itsa国际传媒檚 putting our community in danger,sa国际传媒 said Triance. sa国际传媒淚 want the public to know that the police are taking all steps possible in our lawful authority to stop these actions.

Mayor Colin Basran said the protesters sa国际传媒渄o not represent Kelownasa国际传媒 and is a small group of people compared to the many thousands of residents who follow public health orders.

sa国际传媒淵our disregard for the safety of others is not welcome here,sa国际传媒 he said, addressing those planning to come from outside the city. sa国际传媒淜elowna is an inclusive city where we respect each othersa国际传媒檚 rights, and that includes the right to feel safe during a pandemic.sa国际传媒
