UPDATE: 7:30 p.m.

Thanks to the help of multiple local fire departments and the BC Wildfire Service both the Chopaka Road and Long Joe Road blaze are now considered under control.

Just before 7 p.m., BC Wildfire stated that the fires are not projected to spread beyond the current perimeters.

The Long Joe Road fire grew to an estimated 1.9 hectares and is suspected to be human-caused. 

While the Chopaka Road grew to .49 hectares and is also suspected to be human-caused. 

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) Protective Services department issued a statement that it was aware of a fire at Lower Similkameen Indian Band (LSIB) near Chopaka Roads 7 and 8. A release stated that RDOS was communicating with fire crews and was available to support if required.

There are currently no evacuation alerts or orders related to either fire. 

UPDATE 6:15 p.m.:

Members of multiple South Okanagan and Similkameen Fire Departments are now assisting efforts to battle two wildfires on either side of Osoyoos. 

A structure fire off Chopaka Road is still listed as just .49 hectares in size, and the Keremeos Volunteer Fire Department has sent two trucks to assist BC Wildfire Service with the blaze, said Fire Chief Jordy Bosscha. 

A vehicle fire started the grass fire up Anarchist Mountain that has grown to over one hectare in size has drawn a response from the Anarchist Mountain Fire Department and the Oliver Fire Department according to the OFD's social media. 

"Please be mindful of emergency vehicles from our dept and others travelling the highway to assist with this emergency," read's the OFD's post.

A second spot fire has been reported outside Osoyoos according to the BC Wildfire Service. 

About 16 kilometres to the west of the town, the first fire has grown to over .49 hectares and is believed to be human-caused. 

A helicopter, crew of three and captain of BC Wildfire Service firefighters have been deployed to the fire. 

That fire is currently showing Rank 1 activity, according to the Kamloops Fire Centre, which means it is a smouldering ground fire with a slow rate of spread. 

A second fire has been reported off Highway 3 towards Anarchist Mountain, sending black smoke into air that was visible from the town of Osoyoos itself. 

The second fire does not currently have a size estimate and the cause has not been listed. 

The first fire was reported at 3:20 p.m. and the second at 4:58 p.m. according to the BC Wildfire Service.
