Evacuation orders remain in place for Calcite Creek wildfire near Princeton

The wildfire has grown to over 4,100 hectares and is still out of control

Evacuation orders for properties near the Calcite Creek wildfire south of Princeton remain in place as of Monday. 

The evacuation orders for properties stretching from the intersection of Highway 3 and the Pasayten Forest Service Road down south along the FSR were issued at 8 p.m. on Aug. 3. 

The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen declared a  due to the fire, which is now considered a Wildfire of Note by the BC Wildfire Service. 

The fire currently stands at over 4,100 hectares in size, having grown continuously since it was sparked by lightning on July 18. 

Evacuation alerts remain in place for Eastgate and Placer Lake properties. 

Residents under alert are advised to prepare to leave their homes at a moment's notice, as conditions can change quickly with wildfires.
