A beloved member of Central Okanagan Search and Rescue has died.

K9 member Chase, owned by COSAR volunteer Terry Downs, died while off-duty on March 7.

Chase has been a vital member of the rescue unit, earning his certification in late 2021 and having his first successful rescue in April the same year.

sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½˜The Wonder Dogsa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½™, as he was affectionately known by the volunteer team, was the first certified search and rescue dog to join COSAR. He was also part of the outreach team, joining Downs at schools and community events to spread the word on what the organization does.

He leaves behind his younger brother Barrett, also a certified search and rescue dog for the Central Okanagan.
