The Calcite Creek wildfire has continued to swell in size and as of 4 p.m. on July 19 is more than 194 hectares. 

The BC Wildfire Service currently has a 20 personnel on site, supported by two helicopters, seven pieces of heavy equipment and support staff.

Structure protection resources have also been deployed and are doing assessments nearby.

The fire was started by a lightning strike and first reported on July 18 at 8:22 a.m. 

The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen issued an evacuation alert for the communities of Eastgate Placer and the Pasayten Area after the fire grew to 25 hectares on July 18. 

Evacuation alerts are not orders to leave the area, but residents are advised to prepare to vacate their property with little notice due to changing conditions. 

Three fires were all reported around the same time and area on July 18, all believed to have been caused by lightning. 

The other two fires grew to .3 and 1.5 hectares but are currently listed as being held by the BC Wildfire Service.
