Throughout their first preseason game of the year on Friday night (Sept. 6), the Kelowna Chiefs will be holding a fundraiser to help a member of the local hockey community.
The fundraiser is for Garrett Stewart, who suffered a major stroke and brain bleed on July 23. He still hasn't woken up from the medical emergency and requires live-saving surgery.
Stewart's wife, Kendra, is the longtime tournament coordinator for Kelowna Minor Hockey.
There is also a , where more than $23,000 has been raised so far to help the family with immediate needs, Stewart's rehabilitation, and living expenses.
All proceeds from tonight's ticket sales and 50/50 raffle at the Chiefs' game will go to the Stewart family.
Puck drop is at 7 p.m. at Rutland Arena against the Osoyoos Coyotes.
