Sprinklers stop fire on apartment balcony in Kelowna

The Kelowna Fire Department snuffed out a fire on July 13 that started on an apartment building balcony. 

The call came in around 5:10 p.m. for a balcony fire in the 1200-block of Richter Street. 

Upon arrival, crews found sprinklers had been activated on the fourth floor balcony. No smoke or flames were visible. 

Fire crews investigated and determined the sprinklers successfully extinguished the fire. 

There was damage to contents and the exterior of the building. No injuries were reported. 

All occupants were allowed to return to their suites.
