Historic Leir House in Penticton is cranking up the spook factor

Two Halloween art exhibits open for the month of October

The Penticton and District Community Arts Council is getting into the Halloween spirit with two spooky shows coming to the Leir House this month.

Itsa国际传媒檚 time to crank up the spook factor around the Leir House and turn it into something magical and monstrous!

The Annual Spooky Show is an open group exhibition featuring local artists working in a variety of mediums.

As this yearsa国际传媒檚 theme sa国际传媒淢agic & Monsterssa国际传媒 suggests, you will find all sorts of spooky monsters and magical creatures born from the imagination of each artist lurking in our gallery.

Through Catharsis

Disconnect from reality and enter the sa国际传媒榞oblincoresa国际传媒 universe of self-taught mixed media wax witch artistv Cathartic Wanderer in her first solo exhibition Connections Through Catharsis which is inspired by local folklore and tales, landscapes, and musicians.

Discover peripheral realities through portals and creatures created on upcycled and found materials you wouldnsa国际传媒檛 expect to be used as a canvas.

Cathartic Wanderer, a.k.a Robyn Sawchyn, is one of the current Artists in Residence at the PDCAC.

The exhibitions open on Saturday, Oct. 7, with an all-day opening reception from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Visitors are invited to dress up in their choice of spooky or non-spooky attire.

There will also be a Halloween Henna fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Visitors can come and get an original henna tattoo from Cathartic Wanderer inspired by traditional Ukrainian designs with a Halloween twist.

All proceeds will go to the PDCAC to help support the Arts Matter programs.

The PDCAC Galleries are currently open Wednesdays to Saturdays, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
