Kelowna high School students are making an impact in the community with a donation to the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

Students from Kelowna Secondary School hosted a pop-up thrift shop during lunch, helping reduce waste and raise funds for the new initiative Thrifty Thursday.

sa国际传媒淭hrifty Thursday prevents textile waste, raises money for great Canadian charities, and offers students a sustainable and convenient way to get clothes,sa国际传媒 said Grade 12 student Julia Soleski. sa国际传媒淲e can make a tangible difference because each piece of clothing a student brings home was diverted from needlessly filling a landfill or waterway.sa国际传媒

The students donated $1,000 to the local food bank as their first major donation from the new initiative. The Central Okanagan Food Bank is able to turn that donation into $3,000 worth of food.

sa国际传媒淚 have always been really interested in sustainability and clothes, so I really felt that Thrifty Thursdays was a great way to get involved with both,sa国际传媒 said Grade 10 student Olivia Lewis. sa国际传媒淚 really hope that Thrifty Thursdays can grow into a more prevalent weekly event at KSS with more enthusiastic volunteers.sa国际传媒
