Shoppers Drug Mart fundraises for local moms

Every year, over 1,500 women deliver their babies at Kelowna General Hospital. This month, Shoppers Drug Mart locations across Kelowna and West Kelowna are raising funds for a very special piece of equipment to support them during one of lifesa国际传媒檚 most precious moments.

The goal is to raise $25,000, enough to fund the purchase of a cardio respiratory monitor for the unit, which opened in its new location in March 2016 on the 4th floor of KGHsa国际传媒檚 Interior Heart and Surgical Centre. The highly advanced monitoring device provides clear and constant monitoring of a mother while her baby is being delivered.

The fundraising push is part of Shoppersa国际传媒檚 Drug Marts ongoing commitment to advancing womensa国际传媒檚 health initiatives through its Growing Womensa国际传媒檚 Health campaign.

The KGH Foundationssa国际传媒 Giving Giggles campaign has committed to raising $3 million for the new perinatal unit. To date, donors have funded a wide range of equipment including the NICU central monitoring system, wireless fetal monitors, cardio respiratory monitors, NICU cribs, Kangaroo Chairs and post-partum infant security system.

The KGH Foundation is an independent, volunteer-driven charitable organization committed to enhancing the delivery of healthcare to the patients of Kelowna General Hospital and its associated facilities.
