Isaac Tessaro tasted the sweet french flavours of silver, as the Grade 7 student from Vernonsa国际传媒檚 Lsa国际传媒橢cole Harwood finished second at the 41st annual French Immersion competition.

Hosted at Simon Fraser University, the Concours Dsa国际传媒檃rt Oratoire 2024 was contested between 17 school districts from B.C. and the Yukon May 4.

Tessaro delivered an eloquent, well-researched, grammatically correct speech in French, about the effects of animal agriculture on climate change.

He prepared for the competition by writing, performing, and winning with his discours at the school/district level, focusing on the effects of animal agriculture (Lsa国际传媒檃griculture animale) on climate change. He spent time polishing his presentation with his teachers and many hours rehearsing with peers and family members sa国际传媒 mom, dad, and three siblings. Though not prepared to go full vegan, Isaac does feel that moderation in our eating habits can make significant positive changes in curbing global deforestation and improving water management.

sa国际传媒淭he whole experience was fun, especially when they presented me with my medal,sa国际传媒 Tessaro said about his time at the competition.

His sister, Grace, took French immersion and that piqued his interest into getting into it himself.

sa国际传媒淎t the end of Grade 5 I felt that I would like to follow in my older sistersa国际传媒檚 footsteps and challenge myself,sa国际传媒 he said. sa国际传媒淚 felt that bilingualism could be an asset later in life and could offer me a culturally diverse experience. I enjoy taking math and social studies in French; I have made good friends in the program; and they serve cr锚pes twice a year!sa国际传媒

Tessarosa国际传媒檚 goal is to continue with the immersion program into high school.
