Okanagan residents are invited to come and sa国际传媒渢alk some trashsa国际传媒� on May 4, in Peachland.

Four vehicles have been abandoned for years in Peachland Creek, close to the new water treatment plant intake. Last year the Okanagan Forest Task Force (OFTF) removed several vehicles along with garbage in the backcountry, but couldnsa国际传媒檛 extract these vehicles as its extraction cables were not long enough.

The Peachland Watershed Alliance (PWPA) has now raised enough funds through an online crowd-funding request for an extendable cable that can reach the abandoned vehicles and have them pulled out of the creek.

The creek provides Peachland with its water, explained extreme cleanup volunteer Sheila Kerr.

sa国际传媒淭his extra length of cable will make a big difference to our cleanup, not just here in Peachland, but through the valley.,sa国际传媒� said Kerr.

Last year Kerr was involved with tagging these vehicles using GPS for the retrieval and is happy they will finally be removed.

The vehicles will be removed during the PWPAsa国际传媒檚 annual watershed clean-up, next Saturday.

PWPA has partnered with the Okanagan Forest Task Force (OFTF), ABC Recycling, GFL Waste Management, RDCO, and the District of Peachland to assist, and the Peachland Lions will be providing a free BBQ for all volunteers.

The event starts in Peachland at 9:30 a.m. at the 0 KM mark up Princeton Avenue at the cattle guard staging area. Garbage bags, gloves, pickers, maps, and refreshments will be provided.
