Kids bikes give-away Oct. 15 at St. Charles Garnier church.

volunteers are working hard until Oct. 15 when childrensa国际传媒檚 bikes will be given away locally, while adult bikes continue to be collected to fill a shipping container ready to go to Ghana.

Starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, childrensa国际传媒檚 bikes, scooters, trikes and other small two-wheelers unsuitable for shipment to Africa, will be given away at St. Charles Garnier Church, 2645 Benvoulin Rd., in Kelowna.

The following Saturday, Oct. 22 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., a silent auction with Buy It Now prices will have the rest of the bikes, as well as autos and furniture, on bid.

Buyers can either write down a bid or they can pay the low asking price and take it away. For sale will be adult bikes with thin tires or disk brakes, trick bikes and vintage two-wheelers.

A snowmobile, furniture, automobiles and an assortment of household and automotive items are also on the block.

The funds raised are used to ship a 40-foot container full of donated bicycles to Ghana.

Loading takes place on Nov. 6 when a team of volunteers will get close to 500 bikes into the steel shipping container. This is done by removing pedals and the front wheel, and lowering the seat.

Every penny raised goes toward shipping bikes and helping Syrian refugees in the Okanagan.

The charitable group has no expenses other than the shipping and employs no fund raisers, rents no offices and doesnsa国际传媒檛 even pay a secretary.

Anyone wishing to donate goods to the sale can contact Keith Germaine 250-764-2942.
